Openlands unites the people and resources of the diverse Chicago metropolitan region around the goal of land and water protection, providing a healthy vibrant space to live and work. Openlands has helped secure, protect, and provide public access to more than 55,000 acres of land for parks, forest preserves, land and water greenway corridors, and urban gardens. Openlands supports the Chicago region’s local food system by promoting sound land use policies, preserving farmland and natural assets, and connecting people to the land through growing food.
