$3 Million USDA NIFA Grant to Study New Locations for Crop Production

University of Florida researchers have received a $3 million grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture – a branch of the United States Department of Agriculture – to lead a 4-year research project looking at more places to grow produce. Scientists refer to changes in our climate, loss of fresh water and competition for resources as major threats in farmers’ ability to increase production of fruits and vegetables. Researchers will also be looking into future production costs of commonly used crops in the United States.
